Hi everyone, Theresa here.  This is my personal blog about my search for a cure for eczema and and how I finally managed to beat my eczema naturally after so many long and painful years.  I hope that  it helps others who are suffering through the same pain and embarrassment that I did.

My story…

I’m 36 years old and have suffered from eczema ever since I can remember.   I was officially diagnosed with the condition when I was about 2 years old.  My eczema has always been quite severe and covered much of my body in a red, flaky, painful rash although the worst of it has always been on my hands. 

Because of my severe eczema, my early childhood and adolescent years were completely miserable.

Besides the physical discomfort, my condition always made my life socially awkward.  I felt like a leper and was excluded and teased by some of the other kids in school.  Over time, I learned to accept others’ behavior towards me but always desperately wanted to find a cure.

Through my teen years and adulthood, I went through  sooooo many tests and tried so many different medications but absolutely nothing worked.  Sometimes I would get a little relief in the short term but then my eczema would always come back just as bad as ever.   In desperation, I tried sleeping in oven mitts, slathering myself in baking oil (as weird as that sounds), using prescription creams….just about anything you could possibly think of.  My doctor  even prescribed me the steroid prednisone.  Although it helped clear things up a little, my eczema eventually became even worse.

Homeopathy and Eczema – Finally a Cure that worked.

After years of taking different prescription medicines and trying lots of alternative therapies, I finally came across a book called “Eczema Free Forever”, which takes a holistic and homeopathic approach to the treatment of eczema.    I was at the end of my rope and decided to download the book and give it a try.   To my surprise, the book was packed with an incredible amount of information about eczema that I had never even heard of.  Using the information in the book, I was able to completely cure my eczema naturally within about three weeks.

The first few chapters of the book describe and explains all of the common (and even less common) types of eczema with plenty of illustrations.  It covers the causes and body systems involved and the allergens that play a role.  The section on eczema and food was a real revelation for me.  I had no idea that a major factor in healing  eczema was to strengthen my immune system, and the early part of the book explains how to accomplish this through simple dietary changes.

Homeopathy and Eczema - Natural Cures Worked for Me

Chapter 4 of the book really gets into the cure, beginning with a three day detox program, followed immediately by a special diet consisting of natural foods found in any grocery store. The ingredients in the diet are balanced by their Biocidic (0%), Biostatic (25%), Bioactive (50%) and Biogenic (25%) characteristics.  Although this may sound complicated, the chapter includes a complete shopping list so there is no need to  understand the meaning of these terms in order to get started. Suggested menus are even included and the meals are very tasty.

Chapter 5 covers many additional eczema cure tips and techniques. For example, I live in a dry climate and I discovered that using a humidifier in the winters can help cure eczema and prevent it from returning.   Chapter 5 also includes a section on cures for children that aren’t diet based which would probably be helpful for those of you who are looking for a cure for a child who is fussy about diet.

Chapter 6 of Cure Eczema Forever gets further into the interrelation between homeopathy and eczema and  is all about using natural, homeopathic supplements including  probiotics,  fish oils and evening primrose, as well as other natural supplements to cure eczema and keep it at bay. I found it particularly useful how the author explained things here very clearly and included exact instructions for use.  Although I was somewhat familiar with homeopathy, I had no idea what some of the items were (like probiotics, for example), so the tips and instructions made shopping for them so much easier.

Chapter 7 of the book  finishes with the author’s concluding remarks and words of encouragement as well as additional facts and information about how to follow the program and a summary of the steps to be taken.

Within just seven days of starting the treatments prescribed in the book, I noticed significant relief and within three weeks my symptoms were gone completely, all without prescription drugs or further trips to the dermatologist.  To me, it’s been a  total god send and feels like a miracle.  I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The article, which appeared in the medical journal “Complementary Therapies in Medicine”, documents a study conducted over the course of one year on a number of 16 year-old children with eczema.  The children treated homeopathically for their eczema had better results than those subjected to steroids and, interestingly, the study also discovered that children with the worst eczema conditions at the start of the study had, relatively speaking, improved to an even greater degree using the homeopathic treatments.

The study included both rural and urban kids and focused on both the doctors’ and patients’ assessment of the improvement in their condition following treatment.  When the physician’s involved in the study looked at the results, they determined a 91% improvement using homeopathic remedies as opposed to a 75% improvement using conventional medicine.

So, all of this begs the question – Why would a parent choose strong prescription drugs with potentially harmful, long-term side effects when there is a safe option?  When you consider the fact that homeopathically treated children respond better than those subjected to steroids and other medicines, it seems almost inconceivable that children are put at risk through conventional eczema treatments.

Homeopathy and Eczema in Children – Study Implications

When considering the implications of the study, the most significant and obvious point is that because the results of conventional eczema treatments do not provide a better outcome than homeopathy and, in fact, subject children to harmful side effects, there is no justiciation for using them.  This point is driven home when you consider the extensive list of possible side effects of corticosteriods which include, among many others, gastric problems including appetite increase, ulcers and weight gain,heart and cirulatory issues like heart failure and hypertension, mental and emotional disorders including depression, hallucinations and paranoia, neurological problems, skin conditions and even issues with eyes and bones.

The reason for these side effects is fairly simple.  The purpose of hormones in the body is to regulate its various systems.  When too much or too little of a particular hormone exists inside your body, imbalances result.

The intended effect of prescription steroid medicine is anti-inflammation which can supress many symptoms of eczema such as swelling and pain.  However, these harsh medicines have other unintended consequences and upset the body’s natural balance by flooding it with hormones.

The lesson that we can take from this study is that people should very seriously consider natural, homeopathic treatments for their children before subjecting them to the potentially harmful and life-altering effects of prescription eczema treatments.

Eczema can best be described as an inflammatory skin condition characterized by itching, burning, flakiness, redness, scales and small skin ulcers. Eczema is sometimes also accompanied by a liquid discharge which can harden, leaving thick crusts on the eczema patches.  Although eczema is considered a disease, it can be more properly seen as a symptom of other underlying imbalances in the body and is the result of a whole host of internal factors and external conditions acting in combination to weaken the immune system.

Unlike homeopathic eczema treatment, conventional medical treatments such as antihistamines and antibiotics only relieve the symptoms but do not cure the underlying causes of the eczema.  As a result, the eczema almost always comes back.

Homeopathic eczema treatment takes into account the person’s underlying health as a whole rather than simply treating the external sypmtoms. When treatment focuses on the person as a whole, the strength of the immune system is enhanced, the imbalances within the body are corrected and the eczema disappears.

Homeopathic Eczema treatment does not rely on convential medicine or the application of ointments and creams.  Instead, the eczema is treated by assessing the individual in his or her entirety including physical, emotional and mental states and the past health history of the patient and the patient’s family.  The kind of eczema, it’s location on the body as well as the factors that aggravate and relieve that person’s eczema are all taken into account when choosing the appropriate remedies.

All eczema can be cured using homeopathic treatments.  Even those with severe and chronic eczema can be completely healed using homeopathic treatments which not only clear up the outward eczema symptoms but also eliminate the potential for additional hypersensitivity disorders which can arise later.
